  • Etymology :
    -Breynia : In memory of the naturalist Jakob Breyne (1637-1697), botanical collector in Danzig.
    -Retusa : Retuse, having a rounded apex and a central depression, in reference to the leaves of the plant (but the leaves are rarely retuse...).
