The leaves of Terminalia bellirica grow alternately on the stem (spirally arranged) and they are clustered at the end of the twigs.
The leaf is simple, light green-coloured above and paler beneath. The leaf is smooth, coriaceous and glabrous on both sides (some minute hairs on the margins and on the midrib beneath).
The leaves have a long petiole (4-10 cm).
The leaf of Terminalia bellirica is 10-20 cm long and 5-10 cm wide. The shape of the blade is elliptic, the apex is rounded or shortly and abruptly acuminate, the base is cuneate and sometimes oblique and the margins are entire.
The venation of the leaf is reticulate with a prominent midrib.
The new foliage of Terminalia bellirica is bright red-coloured.
